Quotes and pricing

How much does it cost to paint a house?

It depends on the size of the home, the surfaces, their condition, access and how much preparation is needed. We quote every job after a site visit, so the price reflects the real work, and you get it in writing.

Are your quotes free?

Yes. Quotes are free, written and come with no obligation.

What’s included in a quote?

Preparation, agreed repairs, primers, the paint system and number of coats, protection of your property and clean-up. If something isn’t included, the quote says so.

Can you help me choose colours?

Yes. George can talk you through colours and finishes at the quote, and we can put test patches on site so you see them in real light before committing.

Preparation and process

How do you prepare surfaces before painting?

We wash, scrape, sand, fill and prime as needed. On most jobs preparation takes longer than painting, and it’s what makes the finish last.

What paint do you use?

Quality trade paint systems matched to the surface and the conditions. If you have a preferred brand or colour range, just let us know.

Do I need to move out while you paint?

Usually not. Inside, we work room by room and keep a clear path through the house. We’ll tell you in advance if any area will be out of action.

Do you clean up afterwards?

Every day. Drop sheets come up, tools are packed away and the site is left safe and tidy. There’s a full clean-up and walkthrough at the end.

Exterior painting

How long does an exterior repaint take?

Most single-storey homes take one to two weeks, depending on size, preparation and the weather. You’ll get a timeframe with your quote.

What’s the best time of year to paint outside?

Spring to autumn is ideal, but we paint year-round when conditions allow. Paint needs dry surfaces and mild temperatures to cure, so we watch the forecast and reschedule rather than rush.

Do you repair damaged timber before painting?

Yes. Filling, patching and small timber repairs are part of our prep. If we find anything bigger, we’ll flag it before we start.

Can you paint render, brick and metal?

Yes. Each needs a different primer and paint system. For face brick, we’ll talk through whether painting or sealing is the better option.

Interior painting

How long does an interior repaint take?

A single room is often done in a day or two. A whole house usually takes one to two weeks, depending on size and preparation.

Will the paint smell?

We use low-odour, low-VOC paints for interiors wherever possible and keep rooms ventilated while we work.

Do you paint ceilings, doors and trims?

Yes. Walls, ceilings, cornices, skirtings, architraves, doors and window frames are all part of what we do.

Commercial painting

What commercial work do you do?

Schools, shopping centres, factories, offices and council buildings, for owners, facility managers, builders and architects.

Can you work outside business hours?

Yes. We can schedule work after hours, on weekends, during school holidays or in stages, so your site keeps running.

Can you provide insurance and safety documents?

Yes. We’re fully insured and can supply certificates of currency and safe work method statements (SWMS) on request.

Service areas

Which areas do you service?

Melbourne’s eastern suburbs, including Doncaster, Donvale, Park Orchards, Ringwood, Ringwood North and Warrandyte, and the Yarra Ranges, including Lilydale, Mount Evelyn, Healesville, Seville, Wandin, Yarra Glen and Mount Dandenong.

Do you work outside those suburbs?

Often, yes, especially for commercial and larger residential jobs. Call George and ask.

Is Yarra Ranges Painting the same business?

Yes. Our Yarra Ranges work now sits under one name, Eastend Painting. Same owner, same crew, same phone number: 0413 877 300.
